The firewall is impressive while the antivirus scanner and antispyware features were marginal. Combined with Its lack parental controls or backup utilities, we could not give ESET our highest endorsement. Ease of UseThe software is user friendly with clear menus that will become familiar to you pretty quickly. However, the default configuration is less than impressive. UpdatesESET will update automatically. Users can choose the option to turn off the notification when an update has occurred, since this could be bothersome due to their frequency. FeaturesThe ESET Smart Security firewall is very good and does its job well. It will learn what you use and configure the firewall to deal with it correctly in most situations. However, The virus scanner included is average in its ability to detect viruses missing some older viruses. The scan times were fast compared with others. The anti-spyware and spam filter is decent and will integrate fully with Outlook and other email programs. EffectivenessThe programs created by ESET are generally effective in targeting many of the problems that are known to hijack a computer system, including viruses based difficulties and spyware. However, there are numerous stories of other internet security programs that, once installed, have extricated malicious code that had been overlooked by ESET Ease of InstallationESET is easy to uninstall. |
