PC Tools Internet Security 2009![]() PC Tools Overview - the Bottom Line
PC Tools - Full ReviewReview Summary:Much like other virus software, PC Tools offers free and commercial protection. The free alternative includes virus scanning/protection/removal as well as file and email guard. The upgrade to the commercial product will add to those protections technical support, but more importantly, high speed updates. While the safeguards included in the free version are very effective, high speed updates are essential to keep computer protection relevant to current threats. Furthermore, PC Tools offers a product for Macintosh users. Ease of UsePC Tools lauds their ease of use by claiming that there is little interaction required by its users. Generally, it runs easily on default settings. UpdatesThe free version offers updates, though they are not the high speed option that comes with the commercial option. FeaturesThe basic level for the commercial grade software includes a one year subscription that cover up to three household computers. PC Tools provides two forms of scanning: a full scan or selective, file specific scan. Unfortunately, their scans are reported to run slowly. EffectivenessWhile the program targets virus based problems, the major downside is their insufficiency in securing against other malicious threats such as adware and spyware. Ease of InstallationThe 2009 version is recognized for its much improved installation speed, requiring only a matter of a few minutes before it's ready to go. |
